Armando Trovaioli - L'Anatra All'Arancia (1975)

1975's Duck In Orange Sauce is a comedy starring Ugo Tognazzi, Monica Vitti and Barbara Bouchet. The soundtrack is easy and funky and a very nice listen. I'm not familiar with the female vocalist Suan on here, but I really enjoy the tracks she sings on.

With Christmas right around the corner, this will probably be my last post before the holidays. I wanted to go ahead and tell you all thanks for a great year and I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. Be sure and come on back next year for more sleazy, sensuous goodies!

Ennio Morricone - Il Grande Silenzio (1968)

Here's a not-so-sleazy, but still amazing, soundtrack that was requested by someone. The Great Silence is one of my very favourite Italian westerns as well as one of my favourite Morricone scores. I love it so much that my lovely wife walked down the aisle to the hauntingly beautiful main theme at our wedding last October. It was almost too much for this soundtrack geek to take.

The last 5 tracks are from another 1968 Morricone score "Un Bellissimo Novembre" (That Splendid November).

01. Il Grande Silenzio (Restless) (02:27)
02. Passaggi Nel Tempo (02:24)

Ennio Morricone - L'istruttoria e Chiusa: Dimentichi (1971)

An interesting recommendation from "Anonymous" in the Sweet Body Of Deborah comments. Although it's light years away from the kind of Morricone stuff I usually post, The Case is Closed, Forget It! (as it's also known) is still worthwhile for those who want a more challenging listen. This soundtrack is experimental and abstract and shows another side of the great Morricone.

Ennio Morricone - Butterfly (1982)

"Butterfly" is a film that seems to be generally disliked by most who watch it. I have never seen much more than a few glimpses of it as a kid, only sneaking a peek as it was one of those films that my parents forbid me to see. Growing up I knew it had some sort of history behind it, but never really bothered to look it up...until now.

Thanks to Wiki I found out that it was financed by Pia's husband, an Israeli multimillionaire. It was critically panned on release and received 8 nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards with Pia Zadora winning "Worst Actress" and "Worst New Star". Despite this, she won the "Best Newcomer" award at the Golden Globes causing some people to speculate that her husband "bought" the award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Now with the history lesson done, I still don't know if the film is as bad as some say it is. Perhaps I'll try to track it down one day (it's still not on DVD that I'm aware of) and give it a shot. One thing not up for debate though is the wonderful soundtrack by Ennio Morricone. It's your typically beautiful score that you would expect from the Maestro. The final track "It's Wrong For Me To Love You" is sung by Pia Zadora and I suppose could be another topic of debate, but I think she does a good job. To be honest though, I think even I might sound decent with Morricone backing me up.

Roy Budd - Tomorrow Never Comes (1978)

Sorry for the delay between posts, but the world outside the Lounge has not been as "easy" as the music on the inside. Never fear, the Sleazy Listening Lounge is still in business and will hopefully resume regular posting soon. Until then, I leave you with the always amazing Roy Budd and his soundtrack to the thriller "Tomorrow Never Comes" starring Oliver Reed and Susan George.

Btw, I don't think I've said it lately, but thanks to everyone for stopping by and for leaving such kind comments. It's really a pleasure sharing such wonderful music with you and I'm glad everyone seems to be enjoying it too.

Nico Fidenco - The Degradation Of Emanuelle (1977)

Another Joe D'Amato directed entry in the legendary Black Emanuelle series. This time Emanuelle (Laura Gemser) must again try to put a stop to a nasty white slavery ring. One of the better ones in the series, it features the usual tons of flesh on display, George Eastman (Luigi Montefiori) as a "guru" of a sexual cult and, of course, amazing music by Nico Fidenco. The title song "A Picture of Love" is unforgettable.

Sleaz-and-Cheez Mix

Soap was kind enough to pass this along:

" i've made this mixtape which is mainly with songs from this blog. wanted to share it with you and hope you'll like it - http://www.filefactory.com/file/854391/n/sleaz_and_cheez_mp3 "

I would highly encourage everyone to download it and give it a spin. It's a 70+ minute continuous mix of some of the best in sleazy listening. I really can't get enough of it.

Thanks again, DJ Soap! Please feel free to pass along any more great mixes you come up with!

Pierre Bachelet - Gwendoline (1984)

Dipping into the 80's a bit to bring you another fine score from Pierre Bachelet, the man who gave us the "Story of O" soundtrack. Incidentally, O's director Just Jaeckin also directed this sexy action film that was also known as "The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak". I recall seeing this years ago as a teen strictly because the (then) hottie Tawny Kitaen was in it. I didn't care for it (aside from the flesh on display), but perhaps I would appreciate it more now that my tolerance and love of cheeze and sleaze is infinitely higher.

01. A Pikao (03:35)
02. Rue Chinoise (03:04)

John Phillip Law (1937-2008)

This is truly sad news. I never expected to be reading this. I suppose I assumed he was ageless and invincible like his Diabolik character. Law leaves us with some true classics and he will be sadly missed by myself and the many other fans he had worldwide.

Actor John Phillip Law, angel in 'Barbarella,' dies at 70

LOS ANGELES (AP) — John Phillip Law, the strikingly handsome 1960s movie actor who portrayed an angel in the futuristic "Barbarella" and a lovesick Russian seaman in "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming," has died. He was 70.

Law died Tuesday at his Los Angeles home, said his daughter Dawn Law. The cause of death was not announced.

With his vivid eyes, blond hair and imposing physique, Law was much in demand by filmmakers in the late 1960s and early '70s.

He gained wide notice in 1966 with Alan Arkin, Carl Reiner and Theo Bikel in "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming," Norman Jewison's Cold War comedy in which a Soviet submarine runs aground off a peaceful New England island town.

He played the sweet Russian youth who falls in love with a local American girl in the film, which was nominated for four Oscars including best picture, actor (Arkin) and director.

French director Roger Vadim put Law's looks to good use in his 1968 science fiction film, "Barbarella," which starred Vadim's wife at the time, Jane Fonda, as a sexy space traveler in the faraway future. Law wore wings to portray Pygar, a blind angel.

"I've had more kicks out of playing far-out things," Law told the Los Angeles Times in 1966. "It's like putting on a funny face and going out in front of people and going, 'yaaaaaa.'"

Messages left Thursday for Fonda's New York publicist were not returned.

Law was World War I ace Baron Manfred von Richtofen in the 1971 "The Red Baron" and Charlton Heston's son in "The Hawaiians," a 1970 sequel to "Hawaii," based on James Michener's sprawling novel.

In Otto Preminger's 1967 film, "Hurry Sundown," he was a war veteran struggling to preserve his farm against a land speculator played by Michael Caine. Fonda played Caine's wife.

He continued his career in a variety of U.S. and foreign films and television over the past 30 years, including appearances in "The Young and the Restless" and "Murder, She Wrote."

Law was a California native, born in 1937 to actress Phyllis Sallee, and her husband, a police officer. He told the Los Angeles Times he did some extra work in films as a child. He said he put acting ambitions aside in his teens, but his interest was renewed in a college drama class.

He worked in the theater in New York for a while before breaking into the movies, spending some time in the Repertory Theater of Lincoln Center, whose directors included the great Elia Kazan.
